Cultural Martial Arts – India, Japan, Korea
Trust me this will deliver an incredibly powerful blow with practise. Even those who have never taken a lesson in their lives can benefit from that if they know people who are already into it. Prepare for lots of hanging around at your belt test.
The Truth Is That Taekwondo Is Really Karate!
The word taekwondo was derived from three Korean words – tae, kwon, and do. As practitioners may tell you, the sport is just with the way of the foot and the fist. With 20+ competitors, I knew very few could have trained as hard as I had.
It’s either your child or your sibling that is bragging about how good they are. You’re the one taking the agony of paying for all their taekwondo lessons while they’re plunging hard into it almost all of the time. Why not give it a shot, too? It does not matter if you look more like Western than Eastern or you have a different texture of the hair and skin color. Does it have to? The truth is, even if you don’t have even a bit of family martial arts history, taekwondo can be an eye opener to what hobbies or inclinations that suit you. But, of course, don’t be too serious with this.
Street self defence includes moves which I know many people would consider dirty fighting techniques. But what really is a dirty move in a street fight where there’s a real threat of injury! Elbow strikes, strikes to soft tissue areas like the ears may all be considered fair when you are forced into a real fight. Certainly when you think about self defence for women I would argue dirty fighting tactics have a place. At the end of the day it’s all about surviving. Real world tae kwon do pads is another option for highly effective fighting techniques and is well worth looking into.
Prepare for lots of hanging around at your belt test. While you’re taekwondo overtraining waiting watch what’s going on. But don’t compare yourself to others. Try keep your thoughts positive about what you can do. Rather than dwelling on what you think you can’t. And if you feel negative thoughts and fears mounting…shut your eyes for a minute or two and do more visualization.
I have been in two grappling competitions. The company that hosts it usually does it at the Mckay events Center in Orem, Utah. The competitions I have been in I have gotten second, and third place. I messed up the last competition, and got caught in an arm bar. I have been in no-gi, and Gi. A gi is the white clothing you wear when you are in a Jujitsu class. There are more people in gi so that’s why we are going to enter for the next competition. I am starting to get a little bit nervous because it is coming up next week.
Your speed is very important. At any point of the bout you want to finish it you have to count on catching your opponent off guard and if your speed isn’t fast enough to taekwondo girl do so then you probably will not be able to do your job and get your hand raised.
This tenet is important both in and outside the dojang, whether practicing free sparring or in one’s personal life. The loss of control while sparring could be disastrous to either the student or the opponent.
Make sure you practice your basic movements, stances and guards. We’re going to discuss blocking and evading in the next article, then kicking and striking techniques.
